Most Principals wouldn’t think about it at this time of year, but a night under the stars may be quite rewarding. Principal Bill Cain from Village Elementary School had a unique school fundraising idea incentive for his students. If they could reach their fundraising goal he would spend the night on the schools roof. Well the students ended up reaching their goal, fundraising $15,000, and the school’s roof is where the Principal stayed.

Box Tops for Education is a school fundraising program started by General Mills in 1996 which helps schools raise money for supplies they need but can’t always afford, such as library books, school supplies, and playground equipment. There are three easy ways to earn cash for schools through everyday activities such as buying groceries, purchasing books, and shopping online. Running a fundraiser for the first time might be intimidating. Don’t tell that to Margaret McCarthy however, for she tackled her fundraiser head on with her unique fundraising idea “Name the Lane”. Students sold tickets for $5 a piece. The person who purchased the winning ticket won a $100 gas card, and the student who sold it won a limo ride to school and a new street sign with his or her name on it at the school. Austin Bisegna won the limo ride and street name.

The singer and her band raised nearly $8,000 for the school’s athletic program. Just last weekend, the school held a fundraising golf tournament, which brought in $4,000. To help keep the cost down, students are even playing groundskeeper on the fields by pulling weeds and maintaining the fields.

Does your school have a golf team? If you answered yes then this school fundraising idea could be one stroke away! Hailing to us from Foothill High in Pleasanton California comes Travis Rowney whose personal achievement of 54 birdies and one eagle raised $725! Foothill High’s school fundraising event was a great success, it allows kids to go outside and play a sport they love while raising money for great causes. To start your own golf fundraiser, simply have your team collect pledges for the number of birdies (or in my case bogeys) made.
