Running a fundraiser for the first time might be intimidating. Don’t tell that to Margaret McCarthy however, for she tackled her fundraiser head on with her unique fundraising idea “Name the Lane”. Students sold tickets for $5 a piece. The person who purchased the winning ticket won a $100 gas card, and the student who sold it won a limo ride to school and a new street sign with his or her name on it at the school.
Austin Bisegna won the limo ride and street name.
"He was really excited when he won," said his mother, Melissa Gibney-Bisegna, who waited at the school for the limo to arrive, poised with her camera.
The Department of Public Works installed the sign pole for free. The PTO bought the street sign at Footprint Signs, and Adventure Limousine donated the limo ride.
“The fundrasier generated $1,200 before costs, and the PTO plans to do it again next year,” McCarthy said.
