The holidays may be a hectic time for groups and schools. Schools typically are preparing for the end of the semester with exams and preparing for the holiday break. The holiday break, however, makes an opportune time to fundraise and some schools like to run holiday fundraisers during the holiday vacation; students sell to friends and family members during get togethers.
Bishop Savaryn Elementary School had great success on their unique school fundraising idea. The school, inspired by their 6th grade student Julian Alex, decided to create and sell Braille Christmas Cards for $1 each.
Julian is unable to see through the center of his eyes making it impossible to read print. He was initially the only one at the school learning Braille, but soon other students and friends followed his footsteps. Currently there is a whole Braille club at the school.
Christmas or Holiday Fundraisers may not be at the top of the list during this time of year as we enter the busy holiday season. Many schools are focusing on studying for midterms, churches are assembling their plays, and everyone else is getting things wrapped up before the Christmas break; pun intended.
Want to make the most out of the holiday spirit? Many people feel more generous during the holiday season, which is why running a fundraiser in December will be a profitable one.
